Where did my tabs go?

If you've accidentally hidden your tabs, you'll have a green line at the bottom of your screen - to bring them back you can swipe down from the app bar towards the middle of your screen.

If you're using the standard app layout, the app bar is the big box containing the page title, right next to the close button. If you're using dialog-style, it's the bar at the bottom that says "close" on it.

How can I stop this from happening?

If you consider your digits to be particularly large and not exactly dextrous, you can disable this feature altogether. Open the app, go Settings --> Advanced Browser Settings --> "Allow hiding tabs" and disable it to not have to worry again!
