How can I toggle Torn PDA opening Torn links?

The simplest way is the following:

  1. Open this website in Safari (not a different browser, must be Safari)
  2. Hold down on this link here: https://www.torn.com/
  3. To open links in PDA in the future, select "Open in Torn PDA". To disable it, press "Open in New Tab".

Why is this the way it's controlled? Nobody has any idea, and nobody likes it. Blame Apple.

But this doesn't work in Discord / Gmail / Some other app

Unfortunately, if these other apps force links into a certain browser, there's nothing we can do about this. This is controlled by the app itself, not by us.

Discord has on-and-off supported deep links for years now, sometimes it works, sometimes it breaks. For a more reliable service, you may want to check out https://tcy.sh.

What about that annoying banner up the top? "Open in Torn PDA"?

No, we can't disable that link, neither can torn. Either we support Torn links (the banner shows) or we don't support the links (no banner, but links won't open in the app anymore). No middle ground at all - again, blame Apple.

There's a couple options here you may be interested in:

  1. Use a different browser - Chrome for iOS won't have this issue, for example
  2. Use Torn City - Similar to PDA, built by Manuito and the Torn Devs, but a more lightweight, vanilla experience.
  3. Add Torn to your home screen - the banner won't show up if you do this. Open torn, press share, and "add to home screen".

There are extensions that claim to have the ability to remove them, however you use these at your own risk. Beware!
